Ways To Get Your Kids Involved In Thanksgiving

Plan with your kids!

Go over your Thanksgiving menu with your kids.  Come up with some ideas together…or add in some of their favorite side dishes and/or desserts!

Take your kids to the supermarket…

Maybe you don’t want to take them for the full shop for your holiday dinner, but it’s a great idea to take your kids along with a smaller shopping list.  Shop for the ingredients for the recipes that you picked together and try to point out some of the seasonal foods (pumpkins, butternut squash, pomegranates, etc…) that they may not normally get to see. This is a great opportunity to introduce some new foods!

Help in the Kitchen!

A day or two ahead of the holiday, recruit your kids to help prepare some of the dishes you picked out together. Also, let them help with the preparation of a recipe they haven’t tried before. When kids get to do some of the cooking, they get really excited. They love getting their hands dirty!

Decorate, Decorate, Decorate!!

Arts and crafts are always a treat during the holidays. Your kids will be very proud if you display some of their artwork on the holiday table. Have them make placemats and place cards for your guests. While they are busy decorating, have them set the table too!

Remember what you are thankful for…

Go around the table and have everyone share something that they are thankful for. This is a great tradition to start with your family that they will always remember.  Enjoy!!!
