Are You Eating As A Family???


With kids being as busy as ever…I find that one of the hardest things to do is to find time to eat together as a family. The problem is that when we lose this structure in our household, it usually means that we  also lose a healthy home cooked meal. It’s easy to rely on fast food, pizza, hoagies, etc.. or it becomes a free for all and everyone just fends for themselves.  Believe me…I get it!  We are an extremely busy household and between sports, religious school, music lessons and a million other activities…we truly have to make it a priority to all sit down at the table for a meal together. Sometimes it might not happen until 8:00 at night!

Studies show that the more often that families eat together, the less likely their kids are to smoke, drink, get depressed, develop eating disorders and consider suicide, and the more like they are to do well in school, delay having sex, eat their vegetables, learn big words and use table manners.,9171,1200760,00.html#ixzz1dzXCSH3s

I think it’s safe to say our children learn from us…We provide the majority of the influence!

Even if they don’t realize it, our kids learn from what we do…the good and the bad!!

Having your kids come with you to go food shopping, helping out with meal preparation and all sitting down together at the table is a great way for you to interact and share with your kids.

In turn – your children will also learn to make healthy choices and be better eaters while they are in school and out with friends.  As they become more independent…they can use these skills while they are food shopping, eating out, and preparing their own foods at home.
